 Job Description
 

GENERAL SUMMARY

Global Services Software Development (GSSD) is looking for a QA/Tester on a software server project effort closely tied with Dell’s Image Management services for customers. This individual will have experience and knowledge of testing software, configurations and some hardware such as laptops, desktops, and servers. The candidate needs to also have strong communication skills (verbal and written).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related disciplines or equivalent work experience required
  • MCSD/MCSE and/or other certifications a plus

Frequently interacts with peers, project/program managers, internal & external customers

UG Qualification:BE/B.Tech/MCA
 

Personal Profile:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Test - specific

  • 5+ years experience in software testing required
  • The engineer will be responsible primarily for designing and developing Test strategies and Test scenarios around web-based application portals running .NET.
  • Other responsibilities include executing test plans, debugging / diagnosing problems / bugs, and writing test cases. 
  • Must be proficient in testing and complimentary methods such as analysis, documentation, flow-charting, and testing processes.
  • Experience with server software like Microsoft Server 2003 and 2008 is a must
  • An ideal candidate would also have IT skills, including knowledge of Windows administration, installation and management.
  • Use and experience in one of more of the following test tools: WinRunner, Load Runner, SQA Robot, Silk, Empirix e-tester, e-load, e-monitor
  • Strong SQL skills is preferred
  • Experience of Visual Studio Team System preferred.
  • Experience of automated unit testing is essential.  Mocking tools such as TypeMock is preferred.
  • Experience in testing methodologies such as performance and stress test is a plus
  • Experience in test automation is a plus
  • Experience in software development is a plus
  • Experience in working with server hardware is a plus
  • Experience in virtualization products and technologies is a plus 
     

Process – specific:

Knowledge of Agile project methodology including Scrum preferred 
Working knowledge of MS Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) 
Highly advanced working knowledge of software engineering processes and methodologies 
Must be details oriented 
Must be a self-starter, self-directed, self-motivated and can work independently and/or as a team member 
Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
Strong analytical skills 
Must be comfortable working with global teams spread across multiple global regions
